The travel industry has been a magnet for hackers in recent years, with high profile brands being targeted, often over a period of time.
Attacks such as those on Marriott-Starwood might capture the headlines but there are countless other, smaller-scale attempts to access the systems of the sector.
The high-volume, transactional nature of the industry is one reason alongside the prevalence of legacy systems, which are said to be more vulnerable to breaches.
When the pandemic hit, travel companies such as Booking Holdings said they were seeing increased attacks and experts believe that, as the industry recovers, there could be a further surge.
There are small steps companies can take to help protect their systems such as firewalls and scanners.
